Before “builder” was a job title
Learning by making the internet work
I started with vBulletin forums on shared hosting: creating MySQL databases and users in cPanel, granting permissions, editing config.php by hand, and managing tables and backups through phpMyAdmin. By university, I was building custom WordPress sites for businesses.
- Hands-on setup
- PHP application installs, MySQL databases and users, permissions, configuration files, and shared-hosting control panels.
- Operating responsibility
- Table maintenance, backups, troubleshooting, and recovering from mistakes without a platform team behind me.
- First customer builds
- Custom WordPress sites for businesses while I was at university—small projects with real owners, needs, and consequences.
Skill unlocked Comfort with systems I did not understand yet.
